Tom Grindrod — Coach & Wannabe Athlete
I’m Tom, a coach and self-proclaimed wannabe athlete who’s obsessed with the process of getting better.
My coaching is built around three pillars: HYROX performance, running, and strength & hypertrophy training. I work with people online, in person, and through group classes at The Gym Group, helping athletes and everyday people become fitter, stronger, and more capable.
I’m not here to chase trends or shortcuts. I believe in evidence-based training, learning from the best coaches and athletes in the world, and constantly refining the process. Every program I design and every session I coach is an opportunity to improve—both for the people I work with and for myself.
As an athlete, I’m always pushing my own limits in HYROX and running. That mindset carries into my coaching. I’m committed to continuous learning, testing ideas in the real world, and building systems that actually work.
More importantly, I care about building something bigger than individual results. I want to help create a stronger, more ambitious community—people who train hard, support each other, and take pride in improving week by week.

HYBRID CLASSES
Hybrid classes at The Gym Group in Headingley combine strength and cardio in a fast-paced, HYROX-inspired workout designed to build endurance and overall fitness.
Sessions include functional movements like sled pushes, rowing, lunges, and other challenging exercises, all in a supportive group environment.
Join us:
Monday — 7–8pm
Thursday — 6–7am
Saturday — 8–9am
An effective way to push yourself, build fitness, and train alongside others.
